    Your Faithful Father

    Read

John 20:17, "Do not cling to me, for I have not yet ascended to my father; but go to My brethren and say to them, ‘I am ascending to my father and your father and to my God and your God.'"

    Think

Many of us have been blessed to experience God's love through a biological dad, a stepdad, a grandfather, or another man in our life, thank God. But even if this isn't the case, there's great hope to be found in knowing that your heavenly Father, who has been there all along, is perfect and loves you perfectly. In today's verse, Jesus is making a powerful statement to his mother, Mary, after his resurrection. He's saying that regardless of who our earthly father is, from that day forward, no child is left orphaned. In fact, Psalm 68:5 reminds us that God is "a father of the fatherless." This gives us great encouragement. You see, Jesus bridged the gap, caused by our sin, between heaven and earth, to give each of us an opportunity to have a relationship with our heavenly Father. God is the ultimate caretaker who encourages and loves us more than we can ever fathom. He is the epitome of a dedicated dad, who is and always will be your faithful Father!

    Act

If your father is alive, call him today and tell him that you're glad to have him as a dad. If you have a strained relationship with your dad, consider writing him a letter. If your dad is no longer with us, spend a few moments reflecting on what he meant to you and how he impacted your life. If none of the above applies to you, write a thank you note to God telling him how grateful you are that he is always there for you when you need him.

    Pray

God, you are such a good, good father! I'm so grateful for your constant provision, love, and guidance. Forgive me when I forget that I am your child, your loving offspring. On this special day, my heart is overflowing with joy because you are such a Faithful Father! In Jesus' name, Amen.
