    The Cure for Anxiety

    Read

Luke 12:29-31,  "And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; do not worry about it. For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. But seek his kingdom, and these things will be given to you as well."

    Think

"If God cares for the birds and the flowers, how much more will he care for you?" Jesus is a creative genius. While he was on earth, he brilliantly used stories and imagery to communicate life lessons. In fact, in this portion of Scripture, he had just been telling his disciples to consider the birds and the wildflowers. They don't worry about what they will eat or how they will be clothed because God cares for them. And if God cares for them, how much more will he care for us? Then he went on to challenge them to seek the kingdom of God. What does that mean? It simply means to make God's priorities our priorities. It's obeying him and trusting him with the results. It's seeking his leadership in every area of our life and when we do that, he will provide everything we need. And, not just our physical needs, our spiritual and emotional needs as well. The next time you feel anxiety welling up because you have a need, stop and remember how valuable you are to God and his promise to provide what you need when you need it. But, it starts with putting him first!
