    The Bread

    Read

John 6:35, "Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty." James 1:22, "Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says."

    Think

The church is a table where people come to get fed. The main course is the bread of life. Many come hungry for the ultimate nutrition found through Jesus. Everyone is welcome at the table, but not everyone eats, because Jesus doesn't force feed anyone. We must decide whether or not  to dine on the bread of life, the true soul food only found in Christ. Knowing about the bread isn't enough. So as Christ followers, it's imperative that we attend church regularly to refuel, then push away from the table and do what God wants us to do. Yet too many of us only want to get fed without sharing the bread. We can easily get so stuffed that we forget about the hungry hunks of humanity dying of spiritual starvation. God doesn't want us to merely get fat with information, He wants us to get fit with application. Knowing the Word without living it out stunts spiritual growth. Therefore, we must be intentional about stepping out and inviting others to the table. Don't allow yourself to get too comfortable at the table. Remember, we are simply beggars showing other beggars where to find the bread. Dine on the ultimate meal, and then push away from the table and share the ultimate bread with those you know.

    Act

Psalm 34:8 says, "Taste and see that the Lord is good." Read the Parable of the Great Banquet found in Luke 14:15-24. This is a perfect example of Jesus' desire for us to step out and compel others to come to the table and taste the bread of life.

    Pray

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for quenching my spiritual appetite. Help me to remain focused on stepping out of my comfort zone to invite others to the table as well. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
