    THE Book

    Read

1 Timothy 3:16-17 (MSG), "There's nothing like the written Word of God for showing you the way to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another-showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God's way. Through the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us."

    Think

"The Bible was not written for our information, it was written for our transformation." It's been estimated that more than 15 billion Bibles have been produced since the printing press was created. That's almost two Bibles for every person on earth today! It is the most sold (and most stolen) book of all time. It has been read by billions of people for thousands of years. It is discussed, dissected, and debated every day, in every corner of the world. But what is the Bible really all about? What does it mean to our lives today? The Bible is simply this: God revealing himself to us through written words. But he didn't give it to us for our information - for us to read and then walk away. He wrote it for our transformation - for us to study, and for us to allow it to study us. It was written to give us an understanding of who God is and what he wants for our lives. It's been called a playbook, an owner's manual, a how-to guide. It is all of those, and so much more! As we begin this two-week look at the Bible, look for more than words on a page. Instead, look for God's heart that has been poured out for you, and allow it to transform you from the inside out!

    Act

You cannot apply the Bible if you do not study the Bible. So right now, commit to studying God's word each day. Spend just 5-10 minutes reading and allow the book of life to give power to your life.

    Pray

God, thank you for revealing your word to me. Help me to not only understand its message and meaning, but to apply it to my life. Amen.
