    The Big Question

Matthew 16:15-16, "'But what about you?' he asked. 'Who do you say I am?' Simon Peter answered, 'You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.'"

    Think

"The big question that everyone must answer is ‘Who is Jesus?'" Jesus is someone who cannot be avoided. All of history is hinged upon his life. More books have been written and songs have been sung about Jesus than any other person in history. It seems that everyone has something to say about Jesus. Popular opinions today claim that Jesus was simply a good man, a teacher, or a prophet. In this passage, we read that Jesus asked Simon Peter, "Who do you say I am?" Peter looked at all the evidence that he had seen about the life of Jesus and declared that Jesus was the Son of God! Peter's answer is simple but profound. We all must answer that same question. The life of Jesus demands it. Many choose to even look at the evidence of Jesus' life, but some make a sincere effort to examine the facts of his life and they faithfully choose to believe in him. Jesus' love for us is so great that he gave his life for us on a cross and rose again three days later so we could be forgiven of all our past missteps and mistakes. The question that Jesus asked Peter is still being asked to us today: Who do you say that Jesus is? Either he is a liar, a lunatic, or he is who he says he is, the one and only Son of God and he deserves to be the Lord of your life.

    Act

One of the greatest things we can do as followers of Jesus is to share what Jesus has done in our lives with others. Be intentional today and tell someone your story of how Jesus rescued you!

    Pray

God, thank you for sending your son Jesus to rescue me from all my mistakes and mess-ups. Help me to surrender every area of my life to you. Be my King. Amen.
