Exodus 17:10-12, "So Joshua did as Moses said to him, and fought with Amalek. And Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill. And so it was, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed. But Moses' hands became heavy; so they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. And Aaron and Hur supported his hands, one on one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun."

"Living in victory means you are a team player." Teamwork makes the dream work. There's no ‘I' in team. T-ogether E-veryone A-chieves M-ore. We've all heard these sayings about working with others to reach a common goal. Are they cliché? Yes. But as cliché as they may seem, they are absolutely true. And a great example of just how effective they are can be found in today's reading. The Israelites were embroiled in a vicious battle as Moses prayed on a mountain overlooking the battlefield. As long as Moses' arms were raised in prayer, the Israelites were winning. But whenever his arms grew tired and he lowered them, the enemy started winning. So Aaron and Hur, Moses' teammates, helped to hold up his arms to secure a victory for God's people. Does this illustrate Moses' weakness? No, it illustrates the team's strength. Together we are better. The Bible teaches us that as Christ-followers, we share the common goal of making forward gains for God's kingdom. We were created for community, for teamwork. Therefore, God intends for like-minded people of faith to embrace and support one another in times of need. Are you surrounded by people who love God and are passionate about the local church? Who are your Aaron and Hur? Remember, Together Everyone Achieves More!

The best place to find Christ-centered teammates is at church. If you're not already in a serving group, go to fellowshipchurch.com/groups to find a group of people who serve and gather regularly together. Prayer is another great way to be a team player. Write down the names of at least three people and spend a few minutes specifically praying for each of them.

Dear Lord, thank you for inviting me to be a player on your team. Help me to be sensitive to the needs of others and to love them the way Jesus loves me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
