    Taste and See

    Read

Psalms 34:8, "Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in Him!"

Matthew 11:28-29, "Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you. Let Me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls."

    Think

Candy Canes are a dime a dozen over the holiday season. The red and white striped cane-shaped sticks are seen everywhere! But seeing, smelling, and touching the candy isn't enough. To truly experience all that the candy cane is, we have to taste it!

The psalmist, David, challenges us to taste and see that the Lord is good. So, we shouldn't look to Jesus externally, as if He were distant and out of reach. When David encourages us to "take refuge in Him," and Jesus says, "Come unto Me, all of you who are weary," it's an invitation to a spiritual experience, to know God up close and personal! It's not always easy to taste and see that the Lord is good when we live in such a fallen and fallible world. But, even when we don't understand and can't make sense of what He is doing in our lives, He is always good - and He's always working to bring good out of even the most difficult situations. Experience God's goodness for yourself by putting your trust in Him!

    Act

Who do you know that needs to taste and see that the Lord is good? Write those names down. Pray for each person to take Jesus up on His invitation.

    Pray

Dear God, I want to experience the sweetness of Your presence in my life. I pray for the people I know who have not yet taken You up on Your invitation to taste and see that You are God and that you are good. I ask that they would! In Jesus' name, Amen.
