    Sweeter Than Honey

    Read

Psalms 34:8, "Taste and see that the Lord is good..." Matthew 5:6, "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled."

    Think

Have you ever been so hungry that just a bite of bread is suddenly the most delicious thing you have ever put in your mouth? For the first time, the flavors come alive like never before. This is a picture of what happens when we fast. The physical pain of hunger serves as a reminder to draw closer to God. And when we do, it's like seeing Him through a magnifying glass. Everything around us is dwarfed by the vastness of God. As He grows larger, we see just how small everything is - our problems, our opposition, even ourselves. Fasting is often thought of as deprivation. However, it's important to remember that God never asks us to sacrifice without the promise of blessing on the other side. Biblical greats like Queen Esther, Daniel, and Jesus fasted and received blessings, perspective, guidance, and strength to fulfill their God-given purpose. And He wants to do the same in our lives as well! Ultimately, fasting gives us the opportunity to truly see God at work in our lives and it allows us to experience His presence in a new way. Dialing into God's desire is sweeter than honey. So, taste and see that Lord is truly GOOD!

    Act

Be intentional about your fasting objectives and thank God in advance for the blessings to come. As you listen for God's voice, journal anything He places on your heart.

    Pray

Heavenly Father, I'm amazed by Your vast power. I want to experience Your greatness in my life. You are truly good! Thank You for Your love and mercy. In Jesus' name, Amen!
