    Stop To Start

    Read

Exodus 2:15, "When Pharaoh heard of this, he tried to kill Moses, but Moses fled from Pharaoh and went to live in Midian where he sat down by a well."

1 John 1:9, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."

    Think

Every day, whether we realize it or not, our lives are a continuous flux of "stop and start." We stop shopping to start checking out. We end phone calls and begin speaking to others in the room. We stop driving to begin pumping gas. There's no telling how many stopping to start scenarios we engage in on any given day! Although the majority of them require little thought, they aren't all as innocent as stopping one Netflix show and starting another. (Unless we're binge-watching when we should be working - ha!)

In today's reading, Moses had a stop-start experience. He'd killed a man, tried to cover his tracks, and got caught. Fleeing Egypt, he made a 285-mile trek to the far side of the desert. By the time he arrived in Midian, he was undoubtedly hot, thirsty, and tired of trying to outrun sin. Utterly exhausted - mentally, spiritually, and physically - Moses sat down by a well to stop running and start reconciliation with God.

Is there any unresolved sin in your life today? Are you tired of running? If so, sit down. It's time to STOP running and START seeking Christ! After all, a relationship with Jesus and a guilt-free conscience feels better than any temporary sinful pleasure. Why settle for so far less when you can have God's best?

    Act

If you've been trying to outrun any "angry Pharaohs," it's time for a "sat down by a well" moment! Resolve to STOP running from any past or lingering sin and START seeking Christ. A great way to start is to admit your sin out loud to God, give thanks for His mercy and grace, and surrender to His leadership in your life.

    Pray

Father, I'm tired of running. Reveal any sin that I have yet to confess and turn from. Restore my heart and break away my pride so I can be at peace with You. Thank You for cleansing me of unrighteousness and clothing me in Your perfection. In Jesus' name, Amen.
