    Stand Up

    Read

1 Corinthians 10:12, "So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don't fall!"

    Think

Break your fall and stand tall! A good basketball coach will teach a player how to have balance by showing them how to stand as well as how to fall, so they won't get hurt. Today's verse reminds us to be discerning because we can think we are standing strong when we are really on the edge of falling. Sometimes a player will sacrifice their body to take a charge from a driving opponent. When that happens, it usually involves falling - which can injure a player if they haven't been coached well. The Evil One is hard at work trying to drive on you in order to score, so you've got to be prepared to stand with the proper balance and get right back up if you fall. Today's coaching from this passage reminds us to not become too arrogant because, if that is our stance, our opponent can knock us to the court and easily take us out of the game. Therefore, every day we should humble ourselves before God and pray for his assistance and power to successfully navigate our steps through the game of life!

    Act

Take a look in the mirror and ask yourself: "Am I overconfident?" If you admit it, then commit to making a concentrated effort to dial back your pride so you will be balanced and ready to take a charge from the enemy.

    Pray

God, I know that the enemy is competitive and wants to take me out of the game of life. Help me keep my pride in check. I want to avoid falling, so please warn me when I become too prideful. Thank you for loving and forgiving me when I do let pride win in my life. I pray this in Jesus' name, Amen.
