    Sharing with Care

    Read

1 Corinthians 9:22-23, "When I am with those who are weak, I share their weakness, for I want to bring the weak to Christ. Yes, I try to find common ground with everyone, doing everything I can to save some. I do everything to spread the Good News and share the blessings."

    Think

"How do I come across to others who don't believe like I do?" Paul was a friend to sinners; he ate with them, talked with them, and even stayed in their homes. He met with them to share what he believed right on their own turf, in a place where they would be comfortable learning. He didn't want to put up any stumbling blocks that might cause others to miss out on hearing the saving message of Jesus. As a Christ-follower, it is important to position yourself where Jesus can work through you in the lives of others. If you approach others with arrogance and a "better than you attitude," you will not be able to communicate effectively. Instead, take time to find common ground with those who don't share your beliefs. Listen to them and find out what they believe. Then, tell them what you believe and answer any questions they may have about what the Bible teaches. If you don't know an answer, admit you don't know, and assure them you will find someone who does. Jesus wants us to share our faith with others, but to do so in a caring and loving way.

    Act

Take an index card and write three names of people you know who don't believe like you. Pray for them and contact them this week. Go to lunch or have coffee and begin to ask questions about what they believe. I bet you will be surprised to see what they have to say and how that conversation will lead to you sharing what you believe as well. As you do this, God will take care of the rest!

    Pray

God, give me the wisdom to share what I believe with others. Show me the people I need to be reaching and then, as I contact them, guide me in my conversations so I can show them Your love. In Jesus' name, Amen.
