Acts 2:37-38,
"When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart. And they said to Peter and the other apostles, ‘Brothers, what shall we do?' Peter replied, ‘Repent and be baptized every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins.'"
Think
In the New Testament's very first church plant, Peter delivered the first sermon. Once Peter finished his three-point outline emphasizing the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus, the crowd was captivated and pressed Peter for what to do next. Peter replied with a two-step process. First REPENT, then immediately be BAPTIZED. Yesterday, Pastor Ed combined both steps by creating a new word... REPENTIZE! This means, immediately after an individual repents and accepts Christ, they are to be baptized. On that momentous day in the book of Acts, Peter challenged everyone within earshot. A mass of people applied his message and did just that. This past Sunday, Fellowship Church did the same thing! And it's no wonder we call our weekend services "experiences." Our church had an awesome experience as many followed through with this two-step process and repentized!
Act
If you have already repentized, stop and thank God that you have experienced this awesome one-two combination. If you have not yet repentized, do not miss this next Sunday for a chance to do just that in our experience!
Pray
God, thank you for speaking directly to me through prayer, your Word and so many times when I go to church and have a front-row seat to life-change in our experiences. I pray that everyone will follow through with Peter's challenge to repentize this next weekend. Speak through our Pastor this coming Sunday and let his words be your words. Amen.
