Hebrews 12:3-5, "
My dear child, don't shrug off God's discipline, but don't be crushed by it either. It's the child he loves that he disciplines; the child he embraces, he also corrects. God is educating you; that's why you must never drop out. He's treating you as dear children." Philippians 4:9,
"Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me or seen in me–put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you."
Think
"God is preparing you for what he has prepared for you!" You've practiced every day and put in the extra work. But what happens when your name isn't in the lineup? In frustration you wonder if it will ever be your time. Has all the effort been a waste? Tony Romo can relate as he had dreams of playing in the NFL, yet found himself in the position of being a 3rd string quarterback. For three long years he never took a snap on the field. During that time, he put in the hard work and prepared as though he would be taking the next snap. When finally called on, he was ready and it paid off as he became the starting quarterback of the Dallas Cowboys for many years. He is now considered one of the all-time greats! Your current season can feel like it's monotonous and very frustrating, but it's in those times, that you can trust God is preparing you for more. Remember where you were, be thankful for where you are now, and be encouraged that your efforts are never wasted. God's timing is the right timing because He is always preparing you for what He has prepared for you!
Act
Write out Philippians 4:9 and put it somewhere you will see it regularly. Let this be a reminder to not only read God's Word, but also to put it into action.
Pray
Dear God, thank you for preparing me for what you have prepared for me. Even if I don't know what that is right now, I trust your timing and direction. Help me to be patient and diligent in everything that I do so I will be prepared when you call on me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
