    Pointing the Finger

    Read

Isaiah 6:5, "Woe is me, for I am undone! Because I am a man of unclean lips." John 3:17, "For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him."

    Think

Do you ever amaze yourself at how good you are at seeing other people's faults? In truth, we are all great at it. Isaiah was no different. He had done a masterful job of pointing the finger at other people, condemning their sins. He was a prophet of God, doing what prophets were called to do. But that all changed the moment Isaiah saw God. Isaiah had a beautiful collision with God's holiness that led to an impactful conviction as he saw himself in a new light. He cried, "It's all over. I'm doomed!" as the finger-pointer found his finger pointing back at himself! Here is an important question. Which direction is your finger-pointing? If you find that your immediate instinct is to find fault in others, while ignoring your own, it is quite possible that you need a throne encounter like Isaiah. A revelation of the holiness of God will be a game-changer. Remember, we are here to reflect the majesty of our Maker, so point your finger to the sky and lead the way for others to experience the same grace and forgiveness that Christ has given you!

    Act

Make a list of the wrong behaviors that you find yourself consistently pointing out in others. Now, place a checkmark by every listed behavior that is true of you as well, and pray the prayer below.

    Pray

Heavenly Father, please open my eyes to see Your holiness. I confess that I have been quick to judge others for ____ (read your list) while doing these same things myself. I confess my hypocrisy and receive Your forgiveness. Thank You for Your love and acceptance. In Jesus' name, Amen.
