Psalm 30:5, "His favor lasts a lifetime. Weeping may last for the night, but there is a song of joy in the morning."

Partygoers often receive take-home gifts from the host of the party to thank them for coming. God gives party favors, too, but they are much greater! His come in the form of promises that help us to overcome any pain or disappointment. Just as today's verse reminds us, no matter what sorrow comes in the journey of life, when you have Jesus there is NOTHING that can trump the joy he brings. With him we have victory! Sometimes people get the joy beaten out of them by stress strains, busyness bruises, criticism casualties, or conflict clashes. Such darkness can be all-consuming. But because God promises us healing and hope through Christ, we can experience joy in the midst of difficult circumstances. And, we can be certain that the sun will shine again – not because of our circumstances – but in spite of them! Knowing God promises to always be with us and fight for us gives us the strength and confidence we need to get through our darkest days. Trusting Jesus in the darkness leads us into the light. With him, the weeping of the night will become the joy of the morning.

Act

Think of someone in your life who's dealt with difficulties, but still brings joy to every environment they walk into. Write down three ways you can share that joy wherever you go.

Pray

God, thank you for bringing eternal joy into my life. Help me share that same joy with others so I, too, can follow in your footsteps and be a walking party favor in the lives of others! In Jesus' name, Amen.
