    Nothing But the Truth

    Read

Romans 3:23-24, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and all are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus."

Psalm 139:23-24, "Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting."

    Think

"I swear that the evidence that I shall give will be the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth, so help me God."

We've all heard this oath before. Whether from a movie scene or a courtroom, it places a high value on truth. Isn't it funny how our country has you place your hand on the Bible to repeat this oath but runs away from the truth found in it?

In today's reading, David asks God to search him, to know him, and to point out any offensive way in him. Like David, we are all sinners in need of grace, and God's grace tells the truth. He wants to uncover and expose our sin and, by doing so, usher in GRACE that we do not deserve and cannot earn.

As Christ-followers, we're not perfect, but we must be willing to own up to our sin to experience just how good grace is. When we block God's truth from certain aspects of our lives, we also block His grace. We cannot fully experience His love and forgiveness - even though it's readily available to us.

When you allow Jesus in, you are allowing His grace, His light, and His truth to infiltrate every area of your life. So, confess your sin to God, repent, and move forward in His love. Grace tells the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Because as John 8:32 says, "Then you will know the truth, and the truth shall set you free!"

    Act

Take a moment to write down David's prayer in Psalm 139:23-24. Concentrate on praying this prayer to God every day for the next week and see what He reveals to you!

    Pray

Dear God, Thank You for Your truth. When the world runs away, help me run towards You, Your grace, and what You say is true! In Jesus' name, Amen.
