    No Hesitation

Galatians 5:13, "For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don't use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love." Romans 12:11, "Don't hesitate to be enthusiastic – be on fire in the Spirit as you serve the Lord!"

    Think

President Lincoln truly understood the value of freedom. Notably, he steadied his hand before firmly signing his name on the Emancipation Proclamation to abolish slavery, and said, "I don't want it to look as if I hesitated." This newly-issued freedom came at a great cost to our nation and goes to show that freedom isn't free. Jesus certainly didn't hesitate to pay the ultimate price for our sins to set us free. In Galatians 5:13, Paul makes an important distinction saying, we aren't free to sin, but free from sin, allowing us to freely serve others in love. However, this is often easier said than done. Why? Humans are innately selfish sinners. What's the solution? Serving others without hesitation. And the more we do it, the easier it gets! As Christ-followers, we're here to make a difference, to help those in need, and use our God-given talents and resources to spread the love of our selfless Savior throughout the world. But, first, it starts in the home. Servant-hearted parents raise servant-hearted kids who will make an impact on generations to come. So, let freedom ring! Don't hesitate! Be enthusiastic as you serve the Lord!

    Act

Have you been a little self-indulgent lately? When did you last serve others in the power of God's love? If it's been a while – don't hesitate. Today, do something thoughtful for someone you love, or randomly extend that same kindness to a perfect stranger.

    Pray

Dear Lord, my greatest desire is to grow more and more like Jesus. Please strengthen my resolve to serve others with the power of Your love. And open my eyes to the needs of others. When I'm serving them, I'm serving You! Amen.
