Read
Psalm 34:3, "Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together!"
Psalm 115:1, "Not to us, Lord, not to us but to Your name be the glory, because of Your love and faithfulness."
Think
"Mirror, Mirror on the wall, who's the fairest of them all?"
In the movie Snow White, the evil queen would ask her magical mirror that question, expecting to hear, "Thou, O Queen, art the fairest in the land," as a regular reminder of her greatness. But before we judge the evil queen for her narcissism, let's be honest about our own "magic mirrors."
"Social, Social on the phone, who's the most followed of them all?"
"Sports Car, Sports Car in my garage, who's the richest of them all?"
"Calendar, Calendar, on this device, who's the most important of them all?"
There are countless places we can look to be reminded of our own greatness. And, if we are not careful, we can look to our "magic mirror," believing life is all about our glory. But we don't have to buy the lies of our modern-day "magic mirrors." God invites us to experience something far more meaningful than a self-centric existence. He invites us to a life packed with purpose. We accomplish this when we quit thinking all about "me" and start living to glorify "Thee." So, let's turn to our "Majestic Mirror" and say: "Glory, glory to the Lord, You're the greatest of us all!"
Act
Ask God to help you recognize your "magic mirror." Where are you most tempted to make life about your glory? Spend a few moments considering what steps you can take to make your "magic mirror" reflect God's glory instead.
Pray
Dear Lord, Thank You for the ways You allow me to be successful. May those things not become about my glory, but instead be used for Your glory. I want to find significance and satisfaction from living a life reflecting You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
