Proverbs 4:23  "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it."

    Think

"Who you are when no one's looking is who you REALLY are!" Sometimes the most important work we need to do is the work no one else is even aware of. But it's work that matters because it affects every area of our lives. Have you ever heard the saying, "you are what you eat"? We've all been taught that you get out of your body what you put in, and that feeding it healthy food makes it work, look, and feel better. The same principle applies to our heart and mind. Think about the media you are consuming every day:
    • What social media accounts do you follow?
    • Whose posts are you liking?
    • What music are you listening to?
    • What series are you binging on Netflix?
    • What websites are you browsing?
Do you find yourself closing browser tabs or changing channels when someone walks in the room? Today's verse tells us to "guard our heart." That means to protect it from the negative, immoral, and unhealthy things we see and hear day-in and day-out. Why? Because it impacts everything we do and feel, including our relationship with God and others. Through our media choices, we either normalize a life of opposition towards God or we are fueling our faith that God's way is best!

    Act

It's time for some Media Spring Cleaning! Go through the things you put in front of yourself every day and get rid of the junk: begin unfollowing unhealthy social media; set up controls on your browser; remove inappropriate shows from your watchlist; and delete apps and music from your phone that shouldn't be there.

    Pray

God, thank you for keeping me accountable for the things I feed my heart and mind. Holy Spirit, please give me a fresh perspective on what I am watching and listening to today and every day. In Jesus' name, Amen.
