James 1:12,
"When people are tempted and still continue strong, they should be happy. After they have proved their faith, God will reward them with life forever. God promised this to all those who love Him."
Think
Call a timeout on temptation! We all deal with temptation. It's inevitable. Even Jesus dealt with it. But, the difference between us and Jesus is he never sinned! Though he was tempted, he kept his eyes on God's plan for him and lived a perfect life. One way we can defeat temptation is by calling a "Temptation Timeout." How do you do this? Stop and consider all possible future implications. What ugly consequences will come your way if you give in? How will it affect your spouse, your family, your workplace, or even your reputation? When you think about the problematic aftermath in advance, it creates a healthy incentive to not give in and sin. God wants us to face temptation with confidence, knowing that we can withstand anything when we stand with him. Taking a temptation timeout will help us stand strong and experience the rewards God has promised to those who love him.
Act
Name three different temptations you were able to win out over lately. Use these three victories to give you the confidence to tackle more temptations in the future.
Pray
God, thank you for loving me so much that you have sent your son, Jesus, to forgive me for all the times I've given in to temptation instead of surrendering to you. God, I know I can confidently face temptation going forward because you always provide a way out. It's in your name I pray, Amen.
