    Keep on Running

2 Thessalonians, 3:13, " And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good.

    Think

"It's always the right time to do the right thing." Marathon runners are a rare breed! They have the ability to push their bodies to the limit - and beyond. One of the keys to their success is knowing about "the wall." It's a point around the 20-mile mark when their body wants to quit. Their legs get weak, their feet feel heavy, each stride takes every ounce of remaining strength they have. In that moment, they have to trust that they have more inside than they think they do. They have to focus on just the next step and believe that it will get them to the finish line. Life is a long-distance race. And we will all face times, if we haven't already, when we feel like quitting. It's just too hard to do the right thing, to make the hard decision, to trust God again. But we have to believe that we have more inside than we think we do. We have God working in us to give us the strength and vision to see the finish line. How do we find the strength? We pray continually and ask God for it. We surround ourselves with people who will cheer us on. And we remember that there will be a great celebration when we cross the finish line!

    Act

Take out a pen and paper. Journaling is an amazing way to keep a record of God working in your life. Write out your thoughts and feelings during tough times.  Then, when the next trial comes around you can look back and trust that God is with you and he will bring you through.

    Pray

God, you have promised to give me what I don't have on my own -- strength, perseverance, wisdom, and vision. Help me trust you when the race gets long and I begin to tire of doing good. Thank you for running this race with me and giving me the ability to win! Amen.
