John 3:16, "For God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life." 1 Corinthians 1:18, "For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God."

    Think

Have you ever been given advice that sounded too elementary to be true? Or, learned how something worked and thought, "That's it?" Have you ever been skeptical because something significant seemed too simple? Why do we tend to make things much more complicated than they really are? Here is a simple truth: Jesus died on the cross for our sins and rose again so we could have eternal life. This statement is so simple that many people miss it, or even consider it foolish. They think they're supposed to jump through hoops, accomplish some feat, or learn some mysterious secret to be saved. Yet, in the simplicity of believing in what Jesus did, we find the power of salvation. As Christ-followers, none of the following things are overly complicated, yet there's surprising power when we live them out: • Spending time with God in Scripture • Being intimately involved in a local church • Choosing friends that point us toward Christ • Sharing what Jesus did with others So, don't overcomplicate it. Jesus has already done the heavy lifting. Accept the simplicity of salvation and experience the power in simply following God.

    Act

Experiencing more of God's power in your life starts with taking one simple step. What's one thing you can do today, that you know God wants you to do?

    Pray

God, thank You for caring about the details of my life. Please show me the simple step I can take today to experience more of Your power in my life and give me the courage to follow through. And, continue showing me what simple steps to take in the days to come. In Jesus' name, Amen.
