Read
Acts 20:35,
"In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words the Lord Jesus himself said: ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.'"
Think
"Generosity is not just about our stuff; it's about our souls!" Earlier this week, we were challenged in one of the devotionals to give something away. Hopefully, you did that. If not, go back and read Thursday's devotional. Because a life of generosity is about understanding our position and then taking action. God wants us all to experience the joy of living a generous life. But we cannot think our way into being generous. It takes bold action steps to be a generous person. God gave us all the greatest gift we could ever hope to receive – eternal life through his Son, Jesus Christ. He didn't think his way into it. He didn't just hope his way through it. He stepped up and gave the one thing that cost him everything. When it comes to your life, are you being generous? Don't just think it. Do it!
Act
Can you imagine going back to that person you gave something to and saying, "I'm only kidding. Can I have that object back?" Of course not! When it comes to living a generous life, we must be willing to release some things of value. What are you holding on to that is keeping you from being a truly generous person?
Pray
God, I know that generosity is at the very heart of who you are. Help me to model that kind of generosity to those around me through action. Amen.
