Proverbs 3:13, "Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold."
Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."
Think
In 2009, you could find Zimbabwean banknotes - a single bill - worth $100,000,000,000,000. That's one hundred trillion dollars!
You might think, "Wow, if I had just one of those, I'd be set for life!" Unfortunately, you'd be hugely mistaken and overvaluing this currency, because all it would buy in that country was a single loaf of bread!
We've all overvalued the wrong things, and undervalued the things that matter most - like God's wisdom! Could it be that we're attributing more value to our own feelings and fears than we are our faith? Are we trusting God for the answers we seek, or are we looking elsewhere?
True faith values God above all else. It understands that our relationship with Him is worth far more than our feelings, unfathomably more than our fears. As we look beyond our own understanding and to God, we find what's "more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold!"
The Bible tells us to treasure God's supernatural wisdom. So, how might your outlook on life change if you focused on His infinite wisdom and regularly applied it to your life? Because feelings are fickle, they can quickly change, and unhealthy fear is about as valuable as that single loaf of bread!
It's time for all of us to increase the return on our ultimate investment by trusting God to experience His best for our lives!
Act
Read Proverbs 3:5-6 three times aloud and focus on each action word intently. Then consider new ways to start actively trusting God today.
Pray
Dear Lord, I treasure the wisdom of Your Word. Help me apply it to every area in my life, especially in places where doubt and fear linger. And, may I experience the ultimate return investment that only comes from being obedient to You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
