    It's Not Magic

Proverbs 3:5-6, "Trust the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him and He will make your paths straight."

    Think

Magic shows can be mind-blowing with all the sleight of hand and illusions that trick the eye. We love to watch in amazement as skilled magicians do the seemingly impossible. We wonder about the "how" behind the "wow."

At times, we observe God as though He were an illusionist. We see Him do unexplainable things in our lives and think to ourselves, "There has to be a trick to this." Instead of trusting the Creator of the universe, we doubt His supernatural sleight of hand and look for the trap door or hidden compartment in the miraculous.

Contrast that doubt with the trust we put in things we don't understand. Most of us drive cars or fly in planes without understanding every facet of how they work. Think about it. Do you know how your smartphone works? No, yet you use it frequently. So, what if we stopped trying to figure out how God works and began to trust Him instead? It's time we believe that nothing is impossible for the One who laid the earth's foundations, set the stars in place, and breathed life into our lungs.

Trust that God knows best and will guide us. No illusions, no tricks. So, don't lean on your own understanding. Trust Him to do what you can't, relax, and praise Him as you proceed along the straight path.

    Act

As you step into your vehicle today, think about the trust you put in the car to carry you safely to your destination. Ask yourself, "Do I put more faith in technology that I don't understand or my all-knowing, all-powerful, personal God?

    Pray

Heavenly Father, Thank You for loving me. I know that I doubt Your power when I try to take control of my life instead of putting my trust in You. Help me remember that You designed me and always know what's best for me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
