Ecclesiastes 3:11,
"Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God's work from beginning to end." Psalm 23:6,
"Surely goodness and loving kindness will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever."
Think
Homecoming season is upon us! It's a wonderful time of celebration as students and their families unite with alumni for a week full of events that culminate with a great game of football under the Friday Night Lights. We all love a good "Welcome Home!" Likewise, we all have another type of homecoming to look forward to. This world is only a temporary stop along the journey to our final destination, and God wants to welcome us to our new home in heaven. Have you ever wondered why you have a deep desire for something more than what this life has to offer? It's because God has planted eternity in each of our hearts. The Bible says that whenever we entrust our lives to Jesus, we have dual citizenship - here on earth and in heaven! Although we can't see the big picture as God sees it, we can allow the dream of heaven to draw us closer to Him! When we face challenges and difficult seasons in our lives, the hope of heaven reminds us that "this, too, shall pass." Make Jesus a priority by believing in what's to come and choosing to obey Him every day. With this on your heart, look forward to the biggest homecoming you could ever imagine!
Act
In what ways are you living your life as if the world is your forever home? In Matthew 6:21, Jesus said, "Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." How are you investing in the Kingdom of God with your time, talents, finances, and relationships?
Pray
Dear God, I'm thankful that You have placed eternity in my heart to keep me focused on the perfect love, joy, and peace I have in Christ. When I get consumed with the things of this world, remind me that I have dual citizenship with You in heaven. Help me to keep that perspective in all that I do. Amen.
