    His Name's Sake

    Read

Psalm 23:3, "He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake."

    Think

Follow the Leader When we restore something - furniture, a house, a vintage car - we see what it used to be and we give it new life. Today's passage reminds us there is no one who can restore a soul like Jesus. Whenever we are hurting, Jesus is the one who can bring revitalization and healing. This verse also shows us that he restores us by leading us down the right paths. We have to be willing to follow him, to trust the path he's leading us down. After all, the shepherd has connected his name to it; his reputation is at stake. In biblical times, if a shepherd lost a sheep, it was a disgrace, a black mark on his name. He took his role very seriously. Jesus does, too. We can trust him.

    Act

Today, listen to the song "Lead Me" by Fellowship Creative and let the words of this powerful worship song remind you that if we follow him, he will lead us down the right path for his name is at stake.

    Pray

God, thank you for loving me so much that you go to great lengths to restore me. Forgive me when I've wandered away and thank you for not only welcoming me back but for restoring my soul with your kindness and compassion. In Jesus' name. Amen.
