Read
1 Peter 3:18,
"For Christ died for sins once and for all, a good man on behalf of sinners, in order to lead you to God."
Think
What's So Good About Good Friday? It seems illogical to call the day Jesus suffered and died "good," until we recognize that what happened on that day was personal. Read 1 Peter 3:18 again. Really, read it again! The purpose of Christ's death was
personal. The torment Jesus endured on his way to the cross was brutal. But even more brutal was what he experienced in the moments before he took his last breath. Because, it was in those moments that he experienced something unknown to every other human on earth – complete and total separation from God. In history's darkest hour, Jesus suffered and died for our sins to save us from experiencing that same darkness and despair in eternity! Therefore, Good Friday is
good because it's the day God displayed his love for us in the most radical way – through the sacrifice of his perfect Son. Today, we remember what took place on that fateful day and we look forward to celebrating Christ's supernatural resurrection power on Easter Sunday because we know the story didn't end at the cross!
Act
Today, as you commemorate the meaning of Good Friday, remember that there are scores of people who don't know why Good Friday is so good. Let this motivate you to continue inviting everyone you encounter to celebrate Easter at Fellowship Church!
Pray
Lord, thank you for extending your love to me in such a radical and personal way! Help me to remember this, as you continue to touch the hearts of those who don't yet know you. In Jesus' name, Amen.
