A-C-T-I-O-N, action, action, we want action! It is said that actions speak louder than words. Actions not only show our love, but they also give honor to what we hold dear in our hearts. When we put our family first, it is an expression of love and honor. When work gets the majority of our attention, it becomes our top priority. So, it goes to show that our words are merely lip service if they aren't backed by action. In the Bible, the term "firstfruits" is mentioned 32 times, referring to the first and best of what we bring to God. Since it's mentioned so many times, we should probably pay attention to it! The action of giving our first and best is a key to showing our love for God and honoring him. He knows that our hearts are tethered to whatever we most treasure. Therefore, when we bring our first fruits to God, we are showing that our hearts truly belong to him and that we're willing to invest in something far greater than ourselves. As we give, we invest in ministries that are sharing God's love with the community and the world. These are ministries that we know will produce a harvest of changed lives and hearts. The added benefit is that, because we are giving, our lives will be among those that are changed. We can't outgive God! So, honor him with your first and best.
