    From Little To A Lot

    Read

John 6:8-9,11, "Another of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, spoke up, ‘Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?' Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish."

    Think

In yesterday's reading, a crowd of 5,000 had gathered to listen to Jesus' teaching. A problem arose as the people started to get hungry. Jesus, although he knew the answer, asked Philip how to feed the masses. Jesus was testing him, and the disciple came up short of an answer. Today, we see Andrew at least attempt to answer, but although more proactive he, too, fell short of a solution. After receiving the little boy's offering and blessing it, Jesus turned a little lunch into a fabulous feast. Just as he turned vats of water into overflowing cups of wine at a wedding celebration, Jesus multiplied the boy's small amount of food to feed all 5,000 in attendance. Amazingly, everyone there that day had as much as they wanted. And Jesus wants to do the same for us today! We are never more like God than when we give. Whenever we give whatever we have to Jesus, no matter how small, he can take it and multiply it so that it benefits all. Remember this: In Jesus' hands, a little can turn into a lot!

    Act

Reread today's passage and really think through what you are giving to God. Ask yourself if you are giving him enough of what he has given you in the first place. Every little bit counts in God's economy, so don't underestimate the power of what you have to give! A little is always a lot with God!

    Pray

God, you have proven time and time again that you can take whatever I give, no matter how big or small, and turn it into more than I ever dreamed possible.  Your Word says you love a cheerful giver, therefore, please help me develop the gift of giving. I truly want to make a difference in other people's lives through my generosity. In Jesus' name, Amen.
