    Freedom

Galatians 5:1, "Christ has set us free to live a free life."

    Think

We are a nation built on the principle of "freedom for all." But, what we often perceive as freedom really isn't freedom. Just because we are exercising our freedom to choose doesn't mean we are actually living in freedom. Because whatever we chase apart from God will always end up incarcerating us. We chase money and our need for more enslaves us. We chase pleasure and the need for new excitement ensnares us. The exercise of our freedom can end in the loss of our freedom. Ironic, isn't it? But, the opposite is also true. Right now, there are men living behind bars at our prison campuses who feel freer than ever because God has set them free from their sin and shame. They are finding hope in place of despair, joy in place of depression, courage in the face of fear. They used their freedom of choice to choose God and he is giving them a spiritual freedom that transcends any prison cell. Are you free to live out God's best for your life? Maybe its addiction or a habit that's stunting your spiritual growth. Maybe it's pride or poor financial management. Whatever it is, you can break free and break through the problem by laying it at Jesus' feet. He wants to set you free. All you need to do is ask!

    Act

Jesus came to be your Rescuer. When you choose to trust him as your Lord and Savior, he will show you how to live in freedom. Lay down whatever burdens you have at his feet. As you do, personalize today's verse and say it aloud: "Christ has set me free to live a free life!"

    Pray

Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for surrendering your life to set me free. I want to be as free as you created me to be. Help me to break through everything that's hindering me from doing so in order to glorify your name and fulfill my purpose. In Jesus' name, Amen.
