    Finish Strong

    Read

Hebrews 12:2, "Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God." Luke 9:23, "Then Jesus told His disciples, ‘If anyone would come after Me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow Me.'"

    Think

"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." – Thomas Edison Imagine life today without power grids, light bulbs, movies, or recorded music. Thomas Edison, one of the world's greatest inventors, held over 1,000 patents and understood the value of tenacity and commitment. Despite countless failed attempts, he refused to give up. And the world is a much better place for it. Lack of commitment is a big issue in today's culture. It's easier to bail out than break through. But God didn't call us to live an easy life; He called us to follow Jesus despite difficulties, peer pressure, or seemingly impossible situations. When we refuse to quit, God gives us supernatural endurance power to carry us across the finish line. But, it's our decision. We either tap into God's power or tap out. Greater than Edison's light bulb or power grid, the Light of the World – Jesus Christ – came and finished strong as He defeated death and burst forth from the grave with supernatural resurrection power. And because of Him, we CAN WIN if we, too, are willing to do whatever it takes to finish this race called "life!"

    Act

Hebrews 10:24 advises us to "consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds." This verse expresses the importance of encouraging one another when we feel like quitting. Pray

Dear Lord, thank You for never giving up on me despite how many times I've bailed out before breaking through. I look to Jesus as the ultimate model of commitment and I choose to follow the example He set for me on the cross. Help me to tap into Your supernatural power the next time I'd rather quit than commit. In Jesus' name, Amen.
