Think
Role Call The human body was created in a complex way, with many parts working together to make the body function as a whole. If one part of your body is not functioning the way it's supposed to, it affects all of it. A big frustration many of us face today is doubting the purpose of the role we play. Paul elaborates, "And if the ear says, ‘I am not part of the body because I am not an eye,' would that make it any less a part of the body?" No, it wouldn't! Just because we were all given different talents does not make one role more important than the other. We will find our greatest fulfillment when we embrace the role we play and give it our best! When we become followers of Christ, we are to live out the beauty of the gifts that have been given to us. We can be humbled by the fact that the spiritual gifts given to us are to help others and to ultimately give glory to God by showing others who he is. Appreciate those around you who have different talents that they can bring to the body of Christ. Remember, the church functions best when we all embrace our role!
Act
Write down three people in your life who are living out their spiritual role well. Send them a quick text or word of encouragement letting them know you appreciate all that they are doing for the body of Christ. Next, reflect on yourself and ask if you're living out your role like God wants you to.
Pray
Dear God, I thank you for giving me the spiritual gifts that I have. Thank you for reminding me that my gifts are meant to help others by showing them who you are, not me. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of a church that celebrates every role. Amen.
