Diet and Exercise

Read
Hebrews 5:14, "But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil."
Think
The healthiest people recognize there is a connection between diet and exercise. You cannot do just one or the other and hope to maintain a healthy lifestyle. For example, you can run long distances every morning, but if you are eating greasy bacon burgers for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, you won't be healthy. The same is true if we hope to become spiritually healthy. We need to work on our diet and exercise. Our diet consists of what we are learning from the Bible through teaching at church and what we read on our own. Right now, you are making a diet decision by taking time to read this devotional! Our diet is important. But a dynamic diet is not enough to be spiritually healthy. The second part to a spiritually healthy equation is that we exercise. As you think about spiritual exercise, ask yourself this powerful question: What am I doing with what I learn? If you read a devotional every day without making changes in your life, you are missing the point! You have to act on what you learn to be truly healthy!
Act
When you asked God to show you something you have learned but not applied, what came to mind? Don't be afraid of that thought. Opportunities to obey are invitations to experience God's best for your life. Make the commitment to do something TODAY with what you have learned.
Pray
My Father in Heaven, thank You for giving me the opportunity to hear from You by reading the Bible. Please show me if there is something I have learned that You want for my life but that I have not applied to my life. Please give me the strength to make decisions today that align what I have learned from You with how I live. In Christ's name I pray, Amen.
