    Read

1 Samuel 10:10-11 , "Then the Spirit of God came powerfully upon Saul, and he, too, began to prophesy. When those who knew Saul heard about it, they exclaimed, "What? Is even Saul a prophet? How did the son of Kish become a prophet?"
1 Thessalonians 5:11, "...encourage one another and build each other up..."

    Think

Have you ever experienced a success only to find yourself under fire from critics?  Saul could relate. Once word spread that he was the new king, he was criticized the most by those who knew him best. They questioned his qualifications and challenged the sincerity of his worship. Saul's confidence took a major hit when he listened to these belittling buddies that made him the target of their jokes. Jesus said, "A prophet is without honor only in his hometown," meaning those who are familiar with you are often the first to try to play down your promotion due to jealousy and envy. Don't listen to unhealthy criticism like Saul did or it will bury you. God has big plans for your life. How will you discover them? Where do you find people who will help you with that? The Church! Surround yourself with those who will encourage you, love you, and help you fulfill your God-given purpose.

    Act

How have people in your life responded whenever you've received a new opportunity, made the team, or earned that promotion? Did they celebrate you? And do you celebrate others when they share their accomplishments with you? Let's make the choice to build each other up, no matter what! Check out Pastor Ed's book and sermon series Fifty Shades of They and you'll quickly discover the right "THEY" that need to be added to your life!

    Pray

God, I thank You for being a friend of mine. I'm so glad that I have You in my corner, whether I fail or succeed. You are a constant cheerleader in my life who gives me confidence and strength to handle new challenges and opportunities. Amen.
