1 Samuel 26:9-11, "‘No!' David said. ‘Don't kill him. For who can remain innocent after attacking the Lord's anointed one? Surely the Lord will strike Saul down someday, or he will die of old age or in battle. The Lord forbid that I should kill the one he has anointed!'" Romans 12:17-19, "Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everybody. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath..."

Think

"She betrayed me!" "He is such a jerk!" "I don't deserve that!" If we are honest, we all have moments filled with frustration. But if we aren't careful, that moment of frustration can grow into a monster in our mind. Our thoughts and emotions can become consumed with replaying what happened to us and planning out how we will get revenge – which will eventually control us. David dealt with it, too. He was wronged by King Saul, who was trying to kill him. David was hiding in a cave with his best soldiers when Saul walked in. Saul was completely defenseless. In that moment, David wasn't controlled by his primitive desires like a caveman. He could have easily taken Saul out, yet he made an extraordinary and evolved decision. Instead of getting revenge, David trusted God. The Bible tells us to "live at peace with everyone." That is an extraordinary decision if we choose it. It means we must move beyond our caveman desires and be willing to grow as a person. It means we have to trust God and forgive, instead of seeking revenge.

Act

When you think about being wronged by others, who or what comes to mind? Write it down. Above whatever you wrote down, write "I TRUST GOD." It's time to make an extraordinary and evolved decision. Trust that God will take care of that person or that situation in His timing, which is always perfect.

Pray

God, thank You that I do not have to deal with being wronged alone. Even though I may want to give in to unforgiveness and revenge, I know Your way is better. I trust You. Please give me the strength to forgive and not seek revenge. Amen.
