    Blessings or Blockades

    Read

2 Corinthians 6:2, "I tell you, now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation."

    Think

Belshazzar made a dangerous decision. Rather than learning from his grandfather's experience, the millennial king placed himself on the throne of his life and refused to acknowledge God as God. Because of his delusion and disrespect toward God, Belshazzar experienced destruction. He misused the blessings of God, and they became a blockade that kept him from a meaningful life. For Belshazzar, it was too late. But it's not too late for us! God has put all of us in positions and provided us with possessions that can open up opportunities to make a lasting difference. Yet, too often, we fail to recognize God as the source of our blessings because we are living a life that is self-centered and self-unaware. Today's verse reminds us that we still have the chance to place God in His rightful position on the throne of our lives. The time is now! Don't put off putting God first in your life. Rather than allowing God's blessings to become blockades, place God ahead of every blessing, and use what God has given you to discover where salvation truly comes from!

    Act

Take a moment to think about your position and possessions. If anything you own takes away your time or attention from God, reposition its priority in your life. Reschedule your day to focus on God first. Recalibrate your finances to remain faithful to His call to tithe and be generous. And rediscover the only source of salvation by allowing God to be God!

    Pray

Dear Heavenly Father, I know that You are the source of every blessing in my life. Help me to not only know that in my head, but to live it out in my life. Use me and the things You have blessed me with to make a difference in this world. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
