    Bless You

    Read

Genesis 32:26, "Then the man said, ‘Let me go, for it is daybreak.'  But Jacob replied, ‘I will not let you go unless you bless me.'"

    Think

"Only God can take something broken and use it for good." At this point in Jacob's story, he had wrestled with God through the night. It was pitch-black outside and his hip was dislocated. He was broken, beaten down, and in pain. But, Jacob held on for dear life until daybreak. Then he admitted he needed God by making this audacious statement: "I will not let you go unless you bless me." We all want to be blessed, but we don't like the pruning process. Who does? Being broken hurts – it can be excruciating. But as we learned yesterday, that is where God can do his best work. God wasn't able to use Jacob's brokenness until he was ready. But when Jacob finally admitted he was broken, he was in a place to be blessed. Only God can take something broken and use it for good. He took a broken man and made him the father of a great nation. Imagine what blessings God can bring about in your life if you give him your brokenness!

    Act

Listen to the song "You" by Fellowship Creative in iTunes or wherever you listen to music. Let it remind you of how God - and God alone - can use our brokenness for good. Now write down at least five blessings in your life as a reminder that God is working for your good even now!

    Pray

Dear God, thank you for always working for my good. Help me to cling to you and trust you with my brokenness, knowing your blessings are on the way. In Jesus' name, Amen.
