    Beginning with Baptism

    Read

Luke 3:21, "When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened..."

    Think

"Our faith should be personal and public." Are you a sports fan? If so, chances are that you own a jersey or shirt of your favorite team. Why? You wear the jersey because you want people to know that it's your team. Baptism is ultimately identifying with Jesus. It is like putting on a jersey saying, "I am with Jesus and on his team!" In this passage, we read that the launch of Jesus' ministry was his baptism. When he came out of the water, he gave every one of us a powerful way that we can identify with him: baptism by immersion. Nothing compares to identifying with Jesus and his life, death, and resurrection through baptism! Have you taken your next step by identifying yourself as a part of Jesus' team? Have you put on the jersey? Also, anytime you here that we are celebrating Baptism take time to go over and celebrate the life change of others. There is nothing like celebrating a life transformed. And when you do you will encourage yourself as well!

    Pray

Lord, Thank you for the symbol of baptism to remind me of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. May it be reminder of the powerful of obedience. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
