Acts 2:40-41,
"With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, ‘Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.' Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day."
Think
Peter declared, "Let everyone in Israel know for certain that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, to be both Lord and Messiah." Peter then told the crowd to repent, that is to change their thinking about Jesus. He followed that by inviting them to receive him as Lord and Messiah and then openly declare their loyalty to him by being baptized. Strong words, but Peter was not finished. He continued to warn and plead with them to do what is right. "Save yourselves from this corrupt generation," Peter cautions. Now is the time. Make today your day to get right with God. Three thousand individuals heeded Peter's warning. They accepted Jesus as their Messiah and made that acceptance known by being baptized. Herein lies an important truth: A word of warning is only beneficial if you heed it. To ignore the warning can only be detrimental. Peter warned his fellow Israelites and they listened. How about you?
Act
Have you received Jesus as your Lord and have you openly declared that acceptance by being baptized? If not, take this moment to openly declare your faith in Jesus as your Savior and your Lord. Next, call the church or stop by the information kiosk this Sunday so you can be baptized. We would be honored to celebrate with you!
Pray
Dear God, I want to say it out loud: "Jesus is Lord, my Lord, and I believe that you raised him from the dead so he could be my Savior!" Thank you for saving me! Amen.
