Psalm 23:1, "The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not want."

    Think

The Good Shepherd This week, each daily devotional will be taken from Psalm 23, one of the greatest biblical chapters used to comfort those facing difficulties. David wrote this psalm from his personal experience of dealing with depression and despair. He drew from his background as a shepherd which explains why he chose these powerful parallels. The relationship between a sheep and the shepherd is a strong bond and it should be the same way with our relationship as sheep to the Good Shepherd, Jesus. Many think of Christianity as a religion but it's so much more - it's a relationship, a one on one bond between sheep and shepherd. Sheep are totally dependent on the shepherd to provide and guide and we realize we are dependent as well. We can be confident that he gives us everything that's important because Jesus is the source of all our needs. Jesus, our personal Good Shepherd guides and supplies because he is the way, the truth and the life!

    Act

Each day this week, you will be directed to listen to a song that can be a source of comfort just like this psalm is a source of comfort. Today, go online to Spotify or YouTube or a similar music source and listen carefully to "Another In the Fire" by Hillsong United and let the lyrics minister to you.

    Pray

God, thank you for being such an incredible shepherd to me as I experience the highs and lows of this roller coaster life. Thank you for guiding and providing for me every step of the way. When I go through the fire, I'm so glad to know you are there by my side. I pray this with a huge dose of appreciation for what you mean in my life. In Jesus' name, Amen.
