Proverbs 15:10,
"Whoever abandons the right path will be severely disciplined; whoever hates correction will die." Hebrews 12:5-6,
"My son, do not make light of the Lord's discipline, and do not lose heart when He rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines the one He loves..."
Think
Do you like being corrected? You should, because it's a key trait of wise people who want to learn and improve their lives. Do you want to accelerate your spiritual and emotional growth? There's no better way than to take correction from God and the people He places in your life. Correction is a fork in the road for everyone. Will we cringe at correction like a curse, or embrace it as a blessing? A major theme of the book of Proverbs is wisdom versus folly. The wise submit to correction and are walking along the path of life. The foolish despise correction and are careening toward death. It's been said, "If you think you've already arrived, you aren't going anywhere." Although correction is never fun at the time, if you make up your mind to receive it, you will be blessed for your obedience. So, the next time someone corrects you, thank them for accelerating your spiritual progress. Do this, and you'll win the day!
Act
How did you respond the last time you were corrected? If it wasn't in a positive manner, reflect on where that rejection of correction has taken you. Now resolve to be a wise person who embraces correction.
Pray
Dear God, I want to be a wise person. Forgive me for the times I've rejected correction from You and others. Help me to remain positive as I receive it, knowing that my obedience brings Your blessing. In Jesus' name, Amen.
