    Choices, Choices, Choices

    Read

Ephesians 6:1-3, "Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. 'Honor your father and mother'…that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth."

1 Corinthians 10:13, "No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it."

    Think

From a child's perspective, it seems like parents are all about a list of "dos and don'ts." They're just waiting to say “no.” But, from a parent's perspective, they're trying to help their child succeed and avoid life's consequences. They provide guardrails to keep them from going over the ledge. They want to protect their children from the pain of toxic relationships, financial failure, and a future without Jesus.

Parents understand that choices result in rewards or consequences. As we continue to mature, the rewards and consequences of our actions have greater implications. We also come to understand that we can choose our choices, but we cannot choose the consequences.

Our Heavenly Father knows this all too well. He loves us and wants to help us make the choices that lead to a life of hope, joy, and purpose. Though He doesn't guarantee a pain-free life, He wants to position us to stand with strength, vision, and victory. Thankfully, He has provided instructions in the Bible to guide us and help us make wise choices. Discover the rewards of following His guide for life. It's the best!

    Act

The most important choice we will ever make is to put our hope and trust in God's Son, Jesus! In the Bible, we read how Jesus died on a cross for our sins and defeated death three days later by coming back to life — all so that He could give us the best life possible. Decide to give your life to Him today by praying the prayer below.

     Pray

Heavenly Father, I admit I am a sinner and have made bad choices. I believe that your Son, Jesus, chose to die on the cross for me so that I can receive His forgiveness and live a life of blessing. Thank you for choosing me. Today I choose you. Lead me and guide me so that I may know You. Amen.
