Read:
Psalm 32:3-5, “When I kept silent, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night Your hand was heavy on me; my strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. Then I acknowledged my sin to You and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, ‘I will confess my transgressions to the LORD.’ And You forgave the guilt of my sin.”
2 Corinthians 12:9, “But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’”
Think:
Fear and shame hold vulnerability hostage. Fear never took a “giant leap for mankind” from space. Fear never wrote a symphony that moved people’s emotions. Shame never pulled a family out of poverty. Shame never saved a marriage. Courage does that. Faith does that. Vulnerability does that. Truth does that.
Vulnerability comes from the Latin word vulnerare, which means “to wound.” It also means “capable of being wounded.” This is the part that stings, the part that is uncomfortable. But when we admit our weakness and fear to Jesus, He becomes our strength! Our weakness is His portal for power. God wants us to see what He can do if we learn how to admit our vulnerabilities and embrace our weaknesses. We can’t rely on our own power, but we can rely on His!
Act:
What are some of the weaknesses you try to hide from others? What are some of your shortcomings that bring you shame? Lean on Jesus. Ask Him to fill in the gaps and give you strength where you are weak. Trust Him and His will for your needs and desires.
Pray:
Christ, I give You my weaknesses, my failures, my faults. I want to be used by You. I want to be a part of Your plan. Amen.
