    Read

Hebrews 6:18-19: "So that by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken refuge might be strongly encouraged to hold fast to the hope set before us. This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, a hope both sure and steadfast..."

    Think

Imagine being on a boat during a raging storm. The wind howls, and the waves threaten to capsize the vessel. But deep beneath the turbulent waters, an anchor keeps the boat from being carried away. It provides stability amidst the chaos. That anchor is not seen, but its effects are profoundly felt, ensuring the safety of everyone on board.

Jesus is much like that unseen anchor for our souls. In the storms of life, when trials rage around us, it is easy to feel adrift, uncertain, and fearful. But knowing and believing that Jesus is our steadfast anchor provides a sense of security and stability. He isn't just a figure from the past or a theological concept; he's a living, loving Lord who desires to anchor our souls, grounding us in his unchanging truth and love.

However, to experience the full anchoring effect of Jesus in our lives, it's crucial to maintain an intimate relationship with him. Like checking the rope that binds a boat to its anchor, nurturing our relationship with Jesus ensures that we remain securely attached to him during life's storms.

    Apply

Spend some time today in prayer or meditation, focusing on the presence of Jesus as your anchor. Visualize handing over any worries, fears, or uncertainties to him, knowing he will keep you steady. Your relationship with him will continue to grow and be strengthened through reading scripture, prayer, and worship.

    Pray

Jesus, you are my anchor, the one who keeps me grounded and secure – no matter how turbulent life gets. Strengthen my faith and intimacy with you so I never lose sight of your steadying presence. In Jesus' name. Amen.
