Proverbs 28:25,  "The greedy stir up conflict, but those who trust in the Lord will prosper."

Think

"We have to learn to be content with our contents." "The greedy stir up conflict..." Sometimes being greedy means we stir up conflict between us and someone else, but many times the conflict we stir up is inside of us! Greed causes us to always want more. We get a new car, but aren't satisfied because we want a newer and nicer model. We purchase clothes, but aren't satisfied because we want a different designer. We go out to eat, but cannot enjoy it because we didn't go to a specific restaurant. In all these things, greed stirs up conflict inside of us so we can't enjoy what we have. Wanting something more is not bad, unless it causes us to not enjoy what we have. Contentment eliminates the conflict of greed. Contentment means you can enjoy what you have instead of focusing on what you don't have. It gives you the freedom of satisfaction with your situation, even when you are striving for more. Contentment brings peace.

Act

One of the greatest ways to produce contentment is to develop an attitude of gratitude. Think about an area where you are tempted to be greedy (examples: with your home, career, vacation, clothing).Spend a few minutes thanking God for at least five things in that area. And the next time you feel the conflict of greed creeping in, fight it off with a few minutes of thankfulness!

Pray

Heavenly Father, thank You for what You have blessed me with. Help me be aware of the many things You have given me. Please keep me from the conflict of greed by filling me with contentment with my contents. In Jesus' name, Amen.
