Read:
John 1:14, “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
Think:
It all happened in one moment, a moment like none other. God became a man. Divinity arrived to earth and walked with creatures unaware. God came as a baby; heaven deposited its most precious gift in the womb of a poor teenager. Holiness was sleeping in a human, the Creator was being created. God himself was being given eyes, ears, a nose, elbows, and a mouth. Jesus was cradled in a bed of straw where animals ate.
In spite of the lowliness of the situation, God still came near. He knew the weight of His decision, but He came anyway. Immanuel (”God with us”) came. He made the choice that would take Him from the manger to the cross. He wrote, “The End” at the very beginning.
Act:
Think about the love that caused Jesus to come down from Heaven for you and me. Since Jesus is “Immanuel,” where do you need to invite Him to join you? How can you see your present situations differently, knowing that He is present with you?
Pray:
Jesus, thank You for coming to the world for a sinner like me. Thank You for Your presence in every area of my life. Amen.
