Read:
Luke 1:26-31, “In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, ‘Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.’ Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, ‘Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus.’”
Think:
Gabriel must have scratched His head when he got his orders for this God-given mission. He was used to sending fire and helping divide seas, but this was altogether different. Maybe God would descend to earth in a fiery chariot, a cloud, an explosion of light! But no, Gabriel was sent to a peasant teenager in Nazareth named Mary. He was told to tell her to name the baby, “Jesus.” Do you think Gabriel thought, “God? The one who created the stars and heavens, a baby?” Gabriel told this young girl the name, the plans and not to be afraid. He couldn’t answer all her questions. but he knew who could. And that was enough.
Maybe today you have more questions than answers. You don’t understand what is happening in your life or situation. I actually have amazing news: The God of the impossible is waiting to listen and wants to hear from you!
Act:
Speak to Jesus about the impossible things in your life. Ask Him for strength to believe in great things.
Pray:
God, I believe You are a miracle-working God. I believe that You came from heaven in the form of a baby and You want to use me to do amazing things. Show me today how I can partner with You. Amen.
