    A Trust That is Earned

    Read

Luke 16:10,  "Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much, and whoever is dishonest with very little will also be dishonest with much."

    Think

"Whoever can be trusted with a little will be given more." Have you ever seen a toddler carrying around a 32-ounce drink without a lid? Hopefully not, because that is a disaster waiting to happen! Instead, most toddlers have small sippy cups with handles, tight lids, that typically bounce when dropped. Why? Because that is all they can be trusted with. The same is true with the teenager who has just earned their driver's license and the employee who has just been hired. When we manage well the responsibilities we are given, we will be entrusted with more. And, the same is true with us and God. God gives us time, abilities, and financial resources. As we continue to show our trustworthiness with these things he has blessed us with, he will give us more. But the opposite is also true. If we squander or abuse what we have, we won't be trusted with more. What are you doing with what you've been given?

    Act

Take a quick inventory how you spend your time, use your talent, and manage your finances. Is there anything you need to change to show greater responsibility with what you've been given?

    Pray

Dear God, thank you for your blessings in my life. Please help me make the most of every opportunity, to be a good steward of my finances, my life experiences, my resources and my gifts. Help me manage well all that you have given me. In Jesus' name, Amen.
