Acts 7:54 (KJV),
"When they heard these things, they were cut to the heart..."
Think
No surgery is fun. No one looks forward to going under the knife thinking, "This is going to feel great!" What they do look forward to, however, is the healing that will occur as a result of that time of discomfort. Too often, people shy away from reading or trusting God's Word because the Scripture is a supernatural scalpel. It is the instrument God often uses to cut out things from our lives that are unhealthy. That's not always easy or comfortable. But the great news is that when you open your heart to the Savior and allow Him to use His Scalpel, the results are always health and healing. As a surgeon performs surgery to heal his or her patient, God uses Scripture to lead you to His plan and purpose for your life. Don't balk at trusting God's Word just because it may "cut" you. Rather, see how the Surgeon's Scalpel can ultimately result in your healing and health!
Act
At times, you may read something in God's Word that is difficult to hear. Don't ignore it or shy away from it. Rather, see the supernatural scalpel for what it is – an instrument with a purpose. If you hear something that you don't like, rather than reacting emotionally, take time to pray through and think about what God is really telling you. And trust that the Surgeon has your best interest in mind.
Pray
Dear Lord, I know that Your Word is "sharper than a two-edged sword." But I also know that as You use that Word in my life to cut things out, Your goal is not my pain but rather supernatural purpose. Help me to see past the pain and discomfort and trust that You have ultimate health and healing in store for me.
